Get Involved With the Ride For Hope!
Riders:
This isn't the "Walk For Hope…" This isn't the "Bowl For Hope…" It's the RIDE FOR HOPE COAST TO COAST! It is an amazing bicycle ride across the entire breadth of the North American continent. And, while fun will be had by all, that's not the main purpose!
The inaugural Ride For Hope Coast To Coast was held in 2009 to raise awareness across America of the devastation of sub-Saharan Africa caused by HIV and AIDS and to raise funds for the ministries of Christ's Hope International. In 2011, we will be taking a different route - to reach different people – but the purposes remain the same.
In order to achieve our goals, we need riders who will ride the equivalent of a "Century" ride per day over the span of nine days to reach from Orange County, CA to Daytona Beach, FL. Teams of riders will "leapfrog" their way from town to town each day to spread the word. Are you up to the challenge? SAG Support:
As important to the success of the Ride For Hope Coast To Coast as the actual riders are, they could not possibly complete the ride without steadfast support from a dedicated SAG team!
Depending on which "Google" search you want to believe, the term SAG came from British road racing and was the following vehicle into which riders "sagged" when the effort became too much or just the simple acronym for "Support And Gear." There is any number of other theories surrounding the term SAG…
Regardless of what you want to believe, each team of four riders will need a team of two supporters to drive the "SAG Wagon" in support of their effort and to:
1. Provide transportation between stops
2. Provide water and other refreshments to the riders
3. Assist with repairs
4. Keep the team on the proper route
5. Watch for road hazards or other problems that may pop up
6. Etc., etc., etc.
Each team's SAG Crew plays a critical role in the safety and well being of the riders as well as the success of the Ride itself. Can you meet this critical need? If so, click on the blue "Register" link in the upper right corner to get started!
Volunteers:
Do you have a heart for orphans in Africa? Are you searching for a way to serve God's kingdom in Africa but haven't made the trip yet? We can't do this Ride For Hope Coast To Coast without dedicated volunteers! At stops across the country, we will be visiting communities, churches and other venues where we will need your help.
First and foremost, we are in the process of identifying church partners along the route that would be willing to sponsor an event on the evening that we roll into town. We would like to be able to share about the AIDS crisis in Africa and Christ's Hope's response. A simple potluck supper and a microphone is all we would need!
Does your church or area have an active cycling community that is looking for a way to serve? Are you part of a church Praise Team that would be interested in playing at an event? Are you a talented photographer or "tweeter" that could help get the message out? Or are you a gifted hamburger flipper?

As the sun sets each day in sub- Saharan Africa, HIV and AIDS have claimed 3800 lives and another 5200 men, women, and children are infected.
Our Purpose:
Bringing the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to people infected with and affected by HIV and AIDS through discipling and caregiving, presenting them perfect in Christ Jesus.
